care of passsifloras

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I got some passifloras at the GA round-up and need to plant them right away. Do they need any fertilizer? I tend to plant everything with Black Kow and bone meal, but I'm not sure if I should use that with passifloras. Also, what should I do about feeding them later on?

I'm asking the same thing. I use for mix 1/3 peat moss 1/3 sand 1/3 potting soil. I read to use fetilizer in a 2-1-3 mix.

Woodspirit, I read somewhere that Passifloras like the soil of their native lands -- well-draining and practically infertile. I also read that fertilization tends to promote vegetation and growth at the expense of flowers. I would plant in ordinary garden soil with no fertilizer.

oops! well, I went a little heavy on the bone meal because the soil here is very low in phosphates. I hope it stimulates bloom and not naked growth. Thanks.....
