Does anyone have links or info on how to prune my Japanese maples?
Thanks,
how to prune a Japanese maple ?
I just came across your request as I was searching for some data on Japanese Maple disease. A few links are as follows: www.mountainmaples.com; www.eastbaynursery.com; www.sabot.org/articles/maple.html;Also search Garden Web, Japanese Gardens Forum; Hope these are some help, albeit, a bit late. Thanks Padre. I love these trees and want to be as creative as possible.

In general, there is nothing too special about pruning those. It's done with nearly the same knowledge, science and skill as most other trees.
A good quality pruning book should help.
Really, there is no reason to prune a Japanese Maple unless its branches are crossing or there is some other MAJOR problem.
The tree will look best (when mature) if you don't touch it other than to take care of crossing branches, etc.
Thanks,
Mike
