For all you lilac lovers out there, the Arnold Arboretum here in Boston, MA, has its annual Lilac Sunday celebration on May 16th. The Arboretum has over 700 lilac specimens in its collection as well as many other trees and shrubs which will also be in bloom. You can buy a Lilac Sunday t-shirt, stroll around and smell all the flowers, ask lilac questions, view the Arboretum's bonsai collection, (one of these trees is over 200 years old), picnic, bring your kids, dog, whatever and generally have a great time! It is also a great day to discover which lilacs will do well in your New England yard as you can see how all of your favorite hybrid varieties are doing, and check out the species lilacs as well. Hope you can make it!
