Zonal Geranium

We are trying Zonal Geraniums & New Guinea Impatiens this year. They are coming along nicely.
Should be well in bloom for sales a month from now.

How did you do your geraniums, Bernie, seed or cuttings?

Zonals & New Guineas were bought as rooted cuttings.
Also have a bunch of seed geraniums, mostly Elite seris.
The basket you see has Tornado Ivy seed geranium.

Are zonal geraniums perinnials?

They are, but cannot freeze at all.
Plants will live forever. I know of some people have had same plant for 15 - 20 years.

Bernie I have several in large pots like wash tubs that are five and are in full bloom now. I just haul them into the GH and slow the water all winter till 1st of feb then I water them well and give them a shot of osmocote and MG and in two weeks they are showing good growth. This year I shook the dirt off the roots and put some in a paper bag as others say they do and they all died. One other group I just dug up and left the dirt on and sat on GH floor they all survived but are not growing but leaf color is great.

A few years ago before I had a green house I buried some trailing gerainum baskets in a bed of shavings and they all lived except one of the six.

Anyway you look at it either way is a bonus. Ernie
