Calendula

Hobart, IN(Zone 5a)

Last years I stared calendula seeds indoors and had no problems. I read read an article in the paper that says you can sow them outdoors when you sow the hardiest of seeds like, radishes, sweet peas, poppys, carrots, etc. It says to do this when the forsythia blooms. I thought that these were to be sowed after the last frost? That's way after the forsythia blooms. I would love to do this as I have limited space indoors and hate to wait until after the last frost, sometimes that seems like forever. Do you think this will work?

Here's the article:

Hi branka, yes you can sow calendulas early as they are more of a cool season annual like a pansy. I have had them seed themselves and were up early in the spring.

Thanks Lenjo, I am going to go ahead and seed them outdoors when the forsythia blooms and hope for the best!
