Hangin Basket Costal Gardening HELP Needed

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8a)

I am moving to a condo on the beach in South Carolina,
I need help with WHAT veggies to buy that vine, and or,
climb that I can grow in hanging baskets. One friend told
me ground cherry tomatoes, but I want beefstake and will
be potting those up in 5 gal. containers.

I don't know if they will grow in hanging baskets, but they will grow in pots and that is bush cucumber . . . They may be ok in a hanging basket - not sure. I had a friend that used to grow them in pots all the time; I am just trying it this year. Found the seeds at wally-world (walmart). .

I can't think of anything else other than tomatoes that could grow hanging - - maybe strawberries - but that not a veggie :-)

good luck.

You could try cucumber or zucchini, but I think they might need more room.

Hoya, the wax flower plant climbs, hangs or what ever. Love hot humid conditions. Does not like temps below 55. The flowers are in many coloros except a blue. Look for the Hoya forum. They will be a big help to you. PS we are friendly. Hoyakins

How about Beefstake tomatoes?
A friend told me to put them in wooden boxes and hang them UPSIDE DOWN outside by chains. I have two one foot plants I want to take with to do that with if I can.

I found this link earlier this year & tried it with tomatoes and bell peppers. Wonderful success and I would highly recommend it.
