We have a couple acres that we probably won't be able to really build on for 18 mos, so in the meantime we're laying out gardens and building up the soil.
Since asparagus takes awhile to harvest, we're planting 150 crowns of Jersey Supreme this weekend.
Best ideas for the bed and soil content? Got lots of compost and rotted manure to go into it.
Thanks for your input :)
Asparagus
dea - this is from johnny's seeds
culture - asparargus: aspararagus is a perennial vegetable that can thrive for 15 years or more. it likes a sunny or partially shaded spot richly fertilized with compost or aged manure and limed to a ph of 7.0 or higher.
hope that helps - would like to try that next year. good luck
Thanks!
Hopefully in 2 years we'll have a home and a kitchen to be cooking this stuff in :)
