Recycling

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

My son rigged up this chipper to recycle our pots of soil from last year. These are plants that didn't sell. We let them die and freeze over winter. The machine does a good job. Only takes a couple of minutes to run a wheelbarrow full through.
Saves a lot of $, soil is getting more expensive all the time.
This stuff is mixed with new, a little time release fertilizer goes in and then the plants.

This is the finished product! Plant stems, roots & all go in!

Do you sterilize the mixture before you re-plant in it? Just curious... :)

Grandma & Audrianna were out checking it out too!

Our freezing weather in winter does a wonderful job of sterilizing. We have never had any bugs or disease carry over.

I'm curious about sterilizing too.

Thanks Bernie. We don't have that luxury here. My spent soil gets pitched, because I don't have a means to sterilize it.
