what plants are good for hanging baskets?

I want to grow some plants from seeds for hanging baskets any one know which ones would be good or do i have to get some starts from someone? my sister has a baskets that is really grass green foliage and has purple flowers that look like walkin iris what is this? I do not have a picture sorry the blooms are about the size of a quarter two petals split into two petals one on top of the other with a yellow eye very pretty she got it at walmart any one think this sounds familiar? it is very full

Coleus, begonias, lobelia and impatiens do good in baskets for shade. It's getting a little late for seeds on some tho. Those tuberous begonias are always nice. You could prolly find the tubers for sale at Wally World.
