Anyone know if these vines are the same thing? I would also like to know if anyone in zone 5 grows them, and what kind of growing conditions they like.
cypress climber & cardinal climber
They are both in the Ipomoea (morning glory) family and are similar, but are not the same plant.
cypress vine: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/93/index.html
cardinal climber: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/662/index.html
the cpress vine has feathery leaves. the cardinal vine has more regular morning glory leaves. the cypress vine is also start flowered shape.
Thanks for the info. I saw a packet of seeds that said cardinal climber or cypress vine? I thought they where differant. Can't remember where I saw it.
You can buy it pretty much anywhere that sells seeds...grocery, wally world, etc. you are welcome :)
when mine comes up i can send you some little starts but I must warn you it can be invasive in the summer in the lower zones and get away from you
I have some cardinal climber seeds I can share if you have some other flowering vines to trade....
wanna trade?
