i have several different kinds of gourd seeds that i want to plant this year. how far apart do i have to plant them so they do not cross polinate with each other.
????????
Hi Janet,
You can plant them in pots (one variety on each side of your home) or you can hand pollinate and then cover the bud/flower with some of that tulle material and the bee's wont' be able to get into them. I don't know of any other way except to keep them quite far from each other. Some people use clothes pins to keep the flower shut and keep it from getting crossed. Even when you have open pollination, you get some really neat shapes. Unless you are planning on selling them by name so they can come true, then it would be just fun on getting the different shapes. Hopefully someone else will come along and give us advice. Antoinette
If you've any places where you can vine them upwards, that might help too.
