Ear wax removal

Does anyone know a good way to loosen/remove ear wax? My left ear is giving me pure fits from wax build-up. I got a Flents kit...drops and ear syringe...but so far it hasn't helped much. I'm going nuts here...and yes I am GUILTY of using q-tips. TIA
