This is "Swan River" from Monterey Bay Nursery. It's a hybrid from UC Santa Cruz.

I forgot I have seeds!

Is this considered an annual or perennial in your state?
Beautiful color, whether purple or blue.
Would any one have seeds of this? If so, I would appreciate trading for some.
Thanks, Maxine

Neat pictures, Monterey. Have you seen this website: http://www.meden.demon.co.uk/Malvaceae/Alyogyne/Alyogyne.html

I believe that I have either "Monterey Bay" or "Purple Delight™," and I also have "Santa Cruz," which is a much lighter lavender. It's neat that yours changes color to blue.

Maxine, these are perennial shrubs/trees in our zones. I don't have any seeds right now, but the seeds are difficult to get to germinate. The link that I posted above says they need scarification for successful germination.

Monterey,
I think mine is "Purple Delight" because of the yellow stamens and white stigmas. The site "The Alyogyne Page" says that "Swan River" is a synonym of "Monterey Bay."

Thanks so much for the info. Really great to see such beautiful pictures when we have 20" of snow on the ground.

Sunset has you in a different zone then 10 why is that?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Monterey, I'm in USDA Hardiness Zone 10, and Sunset Zone 23.

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

That's what I thought. I am in Sunset 14, like Napa. Here's a sweet poppy . Have a good one. I am trying to get my garden like yours.

Monterey, you are so sweet! My garden is entirely too crowded, and I have so many things in containers. I would do things differently if I owned this property, but we just rent here so I have to make do. I have promised myself to be restrained and not take on any more than I already have, but I'm constantly making exceptions to the rule! LOL!

Have a great day. Here's some Shirley poppies that I grew last year. I ended up pulling them out though because my husband complained that they look too much like weeds!
