Would like your opinion on ebay greenhouse

Brown City, MI(Zone 5a)

Can someone give me a educated opinion about these greenhouses for sale on Ebay?

Are they worth it?

Can someone give me a list of "must haves"

I am looking for a tent like greenhouse that can be moved if needed. Something to get me through a couple of years at least.

here's the link for the ebay item:

I have seen that somewhere before, maybe Farm Tech? I have a portable greenhouse that is smaller than that one, and overall I've been happy with it. One thing I DO NOT like is the zippered door. Its very inconvenient. If this is going to be a heavily used GH, you probably won't like that roll-up door. It will be a pain, especially when its cold outside, the plastic is wet and you want to get it closed in a hurry. Another problem you will have with this one is ventilation in the winter. On really sunny days I have to open my eave vents to let the heat escape. It might only be in the 40's outside, but it can get into the 90's and 100's in there during the heat of the day. Without a venting system of some kind, your plants will cook, and in cold weather you can't leave the door open.

Finally, I have used mine so much that I've outgrown it and my DH has promised me the real thing this summer, so whatever you do, don't spend a lot on a temporary one, because it'll probably end up being just that! Happy Gardening!!!

Thanks for the input Gretchen, hearing from someone with real life experience is always more useful than reading the pitch/description from the seller.

Oh you're welcome. Wish I'd known about this place before I bought mine :)

best suggestion i can give....get it larger than you think you will need...lol..my greenhouse is 12X24.....its not crowded, but it sure could be bigger...lol...here is a pic...i purchased mine from farm tek with the zip up on one end, and had the frame work for a door but we made the ends solid cuz of the heater and so on...here is the link for the photos....but im sure more ppl will say....bigger is better.....when it comes to the greenhouse...

Cindy: I love your GH -- my DH has promised me a "real one" this year. I don't know if we can go for a hoop style due to property restrictions, but I'm going to check into it. What size is yours? Did you fabricate the ends yourself or was that an option? What is the covering? Is it clearspan and if so, what is that? A poly film of some kind? Thanks for your response to my questions :) Gretchen

Thank's Brommom,

I'm convinced that I should get the biggest greenhouse I can, I'm just not sure it's in the cards just yet.

I'm still looking at all the possabilities. I appreciate your help.

Kaufman...my greenhouse is 12x24...i hired a guy to come put it together...lol..big mistake, but he did make the ends....then just gave up...the covering is like woven tarp material...not clear at all...its hard to describe..it might be called clear span, im not sure..it came with the kit...ijust love it..didnt make it to the greenhouse today...i am trying to hire some help for my office so you know where i was..in the office, not by choice...but i will be out there tomorrow...cindy

I think it must be the same material that mine is made of kind of a transclucent plastic that's woven. Mine is way too small at this point. Yours sounds like the perfect size. I hope you make it out there today!
