I have only tried growing birdhouse gourds a couple times, but I always had to pollinate them myself or else I would get no gourds. Squash and pumpkins will produce on their own but it helps to pollinate them myself. Has anyone else had this problem? What are the natural pollinators of these plants?
Pollination Problem
Hi Kelli, the bees are supposed to pollinate them, but I just read in the cactus forum that we lost over 14,000 bee hives in the fires here SoCal. So who knows what we're going to do to pollinate our citrus and fruits too. We have a few here lingering in our blooming apple tree. I am hoping they multiply quickly.. plant some basil let it go to bloom, and anything with little tiny flowers and the bees will be at your house for sure.. they do that here.
