we have a small herd of deer that live in the woods at the back of our property. i leave apples, carrot tops and other goodies for them to eat. i also have a store mannequin that i dress up and put in my garden. i move her around every few days and it does an excellent job. i also have several large childrens' pinwheels scattered around along with christmas garland strung up on the tomato cages. i have had very little problem with the local wildlife. there is no such thing as a totally deer-proof plant as hungry deer will eat anything(including my birdseed in my bird feeder). you just have to keep them guessing. the slightest movement of any kind works wonders for me against the deer and the numerous rabbits and woodchucks we have.
