How to mix and make colors??

I have been working alot with clay lately and the kit that I've been buying only has a few choice colors in it. So I have been playing around trying to make my own colors but most of the time only getting "mudd" color LOL
I have been running short of Red, Yellow, and Christmas green, and Dark brown.

Anyone know what colors you mix to get what colors??

I know several, like yellow and blue make green(lol ziplock helped me on that one)

But what about colors like
Red
Yellow
Dark brown

Can ya'll help me out??
