Queen's Wreath, Bluebird Vine, Sandpaper Vine (Petrea volubilis)
BEAUTIFUL plant! Where didi you get it? DO you have any seeds from it?
This is a woody vine or subshrub of Brasil, very common in gardens here. This picture was taken in Rio de Janeiro, where I live. It has leathery leaves, blooms in winter and spring and is propagated by seeds and specially by cuttings. Tolerates cool temperatures.
Do you happen to have and cutting or seeds from this plant?
Mine was planted by a cutting. Here, in spring time you can easily find cuttings of it.
Do you have any cuttings from it?
I don't have cuttings at this moment. They can be find in some specialized shops here.
You don't have that plant?
I do, but cuttings are made after blooming time. Bloom consumes all the energy that the plant could dispose. We are in spring here. The cuttings that the shops have on sale, were made before bloom time. In order to attract costumers, the cuttings are sold with flowers.
As a young lad at boarding school in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia, this is one of the plants I used to take cuttings from and strike them in "can" pots. I was always told this is a wisteria plant. Is wisteria a common name for this plant?
