How did your luffa ball do? I was just going thru old posts and didnt see anything about how they did? I need to try and find some of those seeds I didnt even know they existed until about a month ago. Your the first Ive seen that is growing them.

Just saw this message, Dravencat! Wow, I've not been good about checking threads ~ shame on me!

I am starting the luffa balls hopefully this weekend for this year. I did not expect them to take SOOO long to germinate last year. Since they took so long to germinate, I think I just had too late a start on them. I got to the point of germination and a small luffa ball growing, but we had an early frost. Though I did cover the plants, it was too cold and wet and I lost everything :( But, I did manage to find some small luffa balls at the Mt. Gilead Gourd Show here in Ohio!

Here's a picture of how far I did get.

LOL that looks better than when I first tried the regular ones two years ago, I got one little teeny tiny luffa started, it was as big as my pinky if it was lucky. Last year they did pretty good but this year Ive started about 3 or 4 different gourds and I dont have any more room left except for the fences and I dont want to use those only because they are doubled privacy fence and I just KNOW most of the gourds would grow inbetween the two fences way out of my reach.
