I am wondering why only vegatable waste materials are recommended for composting.
Since materials from animals and people who eat meat as well as vegatables eventually decompose, why are meat scraps verboten? This would include Milorganite as well.

Meat Scraps No Goof For Composting?
Meat scraps or greasy things will attract vermin of all sorts...you don't want possums or raccoons...or cats and dogs for that matter digging around in your compost.
It stinks like something dead too.Besides, there aren't enough nuitrients to matter.
Thank ya, Thank ya, Melody. If you are goin to the roundup this weekend, I hope you have a wonderful time. Pitch a few of TC's novel horseshoes. (;>)
1. The smell--it's awful. Vegetable waste doesn't smell.
2. The mice and rats.
I just bought 18 Canadian earthworms (live bait) for my composting bin. I hope that they enjoy their new home. Do they do the work of eating your garbage like red worms do?
