Received some Irises ...

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

From Wandasflowers in the mail today. I am not really in a place to put them in the ground yet. I mean, if I beg the builder, he *might* let me put them in the ground this weekend. Still, I feel guilty even asking to plant in ground I don't own yet.

So, can I keep these fellows in a pot of good soil until then (one to two weeks)? I know this is a stretch, but do they even need potted?

Let me know as soon as you can,
Thanks,

We had a discussion about this kind of thing not too long ago. http://davesgarden.com/t/394568/

I think they will be ok for a few weeks if you keep them dry, but putting them in pots won't hurt either.

Hope this helps

I'd pot them up, if possible. If not, they are quite forgiving... John

I'm hoping that if I keep them dry they'll manage for the week or so left before the move. They'll most certainly be in the ground before any cold weather hits, I'm sure of that.

Thanks all!

I've kept irises in a cool, dry garage for 3 or 4 weeks if I cut the blades down to 6 inches. And the chain store keep them for months before they sell them to us! Dry!
