Overplanting clematis with morning glories

Cortlandt Manor, NY(Zone 6a)

I have a book that suggested doing this. I tried it over my Jackamani (sp?) which is all bloomed out and now I have loads of pink feathered MG's ready to bloom growing up over top of it -- has anyone else tried this? Are there any drawbacks I should be aware of?

I don't see why not, I have mg's growing over a carolina jessamine and a potato vine. The mg's will freeze out and the other two will be there next spring.

Any chance getting to see a pic of this Alyssum? Sounds so beautiful.

I will take a picture when the MG blooms. The clematis has finished blooming -- and now the MG has lots of buds and should bloom soon.

To answer Your question Alyssum the only drawback I can think of might be that the MG's would seed throwbacks to the infamous bindweed which will then haunt you forever. Some of the hybrids evidently use the bindweed as a parent and some of the seed produced by the hybrids throws back to it in the following season. BAAAD news! BTW spelling is Jackmanii...I have one that is pure gorgeous!
