Good or Bad Bug?

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

I have been seeing these things all thru out my garden. 90% of the time there are 2 of them hooked together mating. What are they and how do I get rid of them?

I think the ones that are always seen mating my aunt calls "Box Elder Beetles".

Yea that is the same bug alright! But I couldn't get Cala's link to work. Guess I'll keep trying or I'll look it up on Google.

Thanks for the help :)

Cala, I sure wish I knew all the stuff you know. I'd be so much better at this gardening thing.......lol

Flow, I take short courses at the University plus I love to just read books. I have butterfly books and flower books that I just love to look thru.

that's good. I can't keep my nose in a book long enough to remember anything.....lol

I don't know what they are really called, but I get them all over my milkweed plants from time to time. They will actually kill any caterpillars that go on "their" milkweed plants. Apparently they are quite territorial. I usually flick them off the plant and step on them. I think they may be related to stink bugs and/or leaf-footed bugs.

yep, I've been doing the same thing. Far as I know they serve no purpose, so they are better off dead to me and my garden LOL
