I was just perusing the Hancocks of Paducah website http://www.hancocks-paducah.com and found this:
"Gardening provides a woderful parallel to quilting--planning layouts, the use of color, care for the components, acquisition and passing of expertise from generation to generation. Vita Sackville-West once wrote that, “for the last forty years of my life I have broken my back, my finger-nails, and sometimes my heart, in the practical pursuit of my favourite occupation.” Familiar? "
I thought that summed a lot of us pretty well.
