Please, help! Young grubs have been indentified as killing my burmuda grass. The is the first time ever. I've bought some grub instecticide from Home Depot, but I'm worried about harming the wildlife found on my grass, such as the squirrels, rabbits, doves, mockingbirds .... will the instecticide hurt them??? I couldn't stand it if it did ... but what do I do otherwise? Anyone? Please help. Thanks!
Grubs killing grass! What to do????
Hi J_J. Many years ago I had a similar problem. I used parasitic nematodes that I got from Gardens Alive! Sprayed them on once and that was it - never had anymore grub problems. Completely organic and safe. You can check it out here...

Thanks NoH2O! That's exactly what I was looking for.
J_J, I just read the following in the Aug. 2003 issue of Avant Gardener: Parasitic nematodes give a fast kill of Japanese beetles but are not long-lasting, and traps help but must not be placed near desirable plants since beetles attracted to the trap will feed on these. The best long-term solution is still milky spore disease (St. Gabriel Laboratories, Orange, VA 22960; 1-800-801-0061), which will continue to kill the beetle grubs for 10 to 20 years - and if you persuade neighbors to use it too, you'll have fewer Japanese beetles flying into your garden.
I think Gardens Alive! carries milky spore too if you choose that option.
Wow, thanks for that info. I looked up the milky spore on the Gardens Alive website, but they didn't carry it ... at least I didn't find any. But I did find this place:

I'm so excited that one application will last 15 years and that it is not harmful to beneficial insects, birds, bees, pets or man! I'm ordering some today. Thank you for helping me out on this. I appreciate it more than you know.
