my asiatics are all rusty and brown

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

my asiatic bulbs are dying.they are brown and rust colored. it starts with a small patch(s) and then destroys the whole leaf. the ones in the sun seem to get the patches over the entire plant and are blossoming. the ones that are in part shade are dying more from the bottom up. the baby's are all dead, and it has reached and destroyed some buds too. i also have asiatics in the sun that are not effected at all, and my orientals, trumpets, etc are not effected either. it appears to me to have something to do with the 6 weeks of water we had here. could this be so? could it be rust? we are heading on vacation and the camera is packed so no pictures for now. they look absolutely horrible and i'm concerned if they will come back next year, or if this is killing off all the energy in the bulbs too. i went to try and remove one of the bulbettes stem, and it pulled out the whole bulb. this has been shriveled up now for at least 5+ weeks, so i thought it would come right off, but they are firmly attached. the bulb was nice and white, but i didn't think to closely inspect it at the time.
is this happening to anyone else? is there any help for my poor babies? or do they need to go?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Is it a small circular spot on the edge of the leaf? Is it on the flowers? Does it start on the lower leaves first? Are the roots brown and mushy when you dig a bulb? No flowers at all?
