Hi, prain!!

Nearly all fig trees in Greece give mature figs between August and November, depending on the exact place they grow, and what sort of fig trees they are. We have a species that ripens mid- late November, with small (1-1.5 ")
spherical very sweet figs.
You know if they are mature, before cutting them, if they are slightly soft to touch; while cutting them, mature figs do not exude "milk".
Wait and see!

prain, here is south louisiana we start picking figs around the 4th of July. You can tell if they are ripe by giving them a very gentle squeeze. They should feel somewhat firm and a little soft. Hope this helps! Lisa
