moon and stars

i have a few watermelons growing. how do you tell when they are ready to pick? i knocked on all of them thinking i would hear different sounds but nope they all sound the same.
my planters jumbo cantalope were easy they changed color and fell off the vine when touched. taste yummy they are all that was said about them. they handle the drought and the wet. the fruit are large and sweet. i will be growing them again next yr.
the moon and stars i will have to do without next yr. they do not like this tx heat. the fruit are all different sizes and the vines are starting to look bad bad.

Nancy, A watermelon is usually ripe when the curler closest to the melon turns brown. Hope this helps.
