We just bought a new house - it has a 2-1/2' square brick box at the front corner of the house with bamboo hiding the electric meters, etc. When we looked at the house, we were wary of the bamboo, but looked for evidence it had broken out of the box and found none. Hoped for a bottom!!
Alas, of course, now it's shooting here and there and everywhere. It's right next to the house and I fret for our (slab) foundation - so it has to go.
Any brilliant ideas about bamboo removal?
THANKS!

Evil Bamboo
I had a similar problem a few years ago...alas I had to dig it out and it was hard work...the runners were not too bad because you could follow them along the ground and they were about 6" deep, but the main clump was well established and it took me several days with shovel and crowbar to finally pop it out. The rest that resprouted in the following years (yes, plural) were dealt with round up.
Good luck
Thanks. *sigh* :o) I cut it to the ground and picked up a pick axe and a full axe earlier this week. This weekend, I hope to get to the fun/back-breaking part. There's a gas line below it somewhere, and seems to be an old tree trunk in the middle of it - so we'll go slow ...
