A group of friars at a monastery wore very old clothes. They patched them, and cleaned them, but the fabric was frayed and the color was faded.
A new tailor opened shop in their town, and when he saw the condition of the friars' robes, he offered to do all the needed repairs as a service to the mission.
Naturally, the head friar accepted him. The brothers took all their clothing to him, and within a couple of days he returned it, looking almost brand-new! Not a hole in sight, and the color was returned to its original brown. The monks were overjoyed, until they put the clothes on. They were all stiff, and unyielding.
The head friar went to the tailor to find out what happened. The tailor simply explained 'Old Habits Dye Hard'.
