Korny but cute

A young boys mother sent him down to the old country store to get a chicken for supper.He goes in and tells the clerk what he wants.The clerk say's,"Did you want a pullet?" The boy replied, "No that's allright,I'll just carry it".
This joke was told to me in the early fifties when I was in grade school. I've always found it humorus,because I can still see the boy that told it and he was hilarius.
