I planted a couple of astilbes last year, and both are thriving. A friend just gave me a ton of plants from his garden (fruits of his yearly division of perennials), and I'd love to be able to repay him in kind. Is it too early to try to split my happy astilbes?
Thanks,
Liz
splitting astilbe
Hi Liz :) If your astilbes have more than one crown, you should be able to divide them. Astilbes really prefer to be divided pretty often; I usually do mine every 3 years. Better blooms if they aren't as crowded.
thanks lupine and liz, i didn't know this info. debi z and franklin
