Pounded flowers

LOL, no, I haven't become so frustrated with the gardens that I'm beating up blossoms (well, not YET!). this is a dye method that uses the flower's natural coloring. As in any natural dye, what you get is not always what you expect, for instance scarlet comes out a ruddy brown and other reds are more purple than red, but it is always interesting! These are the first two that I did, one with details drawn in with fine tipped permanent marker and the other without the details. I haven't decided how I'm going to use these yet. they are on a fine cotton muslim. there is a recipe using washing soda and alum for preparing the fabric that I will post later.
