Can anyone give me some info on wormwood Artemesia sp?
TIA,
Sugar
wormwood
Do you know which one? Some of them are nice ornamentals and some are quite weedy. Most of them are aggressive spreaders.... but not all are.
Poppysue..all it said was "wormwood Artemesia sp"
Sugar - here's some we have listed in the database http://plantsdatabase.com/b/none/Artemisia/ Generally they like sun, and will tolerate dry or poor soils well. If you can get a picture of it we might be able to ID it for you. Some of them can be a real pain, as far as their spreading goes.
Looks like it might be 'Silver Mound'... which makes a very nice clump! http://plantsdatabase.com/go/54941/ Not sure about the other plant. Maybe an amaryllis? http://plantsdatabase.com/search.php?search_text=amaryllis&Search.x=11&Search.y=16
poppysue,
The marker in it said,"Cinnamon St John" I can't find anything on that. I got it at the Florida swap but don't know from who. I don't believe it is amaryllis though.
Powis Castle is a pretty wormwood, too but does grow quite large. But I love the contrasting gray foliage in the garden. It seems I am always robbing foliage for arrangements too. Smells like sagebrush when rubbed.
poppysue..
I placed this pix in another place & the guess there was crinum. I believe that is still in the same family. I hope it blooms. I THINK I have several that was given to me by someone here. DH says it isn't the same but I say it is *LOL* I have had them almost a year with no blooms so far. They stayed green all winter. Maybe all will bloom this summer.. I hope so.
I've heard the name St.Joseph lily applied to amaryllis http://www.sfasu.edu/ag/arboretum/plants/hippeastrumamaryllis/amaryllis%20hippeastrum.htm Not sure about criniums, but I spose it's possible. I hope you get some blooms too. It'll be fun to see how they turn out.
Lenjo - Does 'Powis Castle' spread?
No, it gets very woody and just grows huge and so spread that way, yah, but not like invasive.
