Pyrgus oileus. This is a male with a wingspan of about an inch. They get beteen 3/4" -1 1/4". They must be attracted to the native Abutilon I have in my yard. It's one of their host plants
Tropical Checkered-Skipper
he's pretty!!!
He is pretty isn't he? I'm glad to be seeing them around.
Hey Floridian! He looks like he has fur. So pretty.
Hi there Floridian,
What a nice photograph! Beautiful butterfly also. So much detail in that photo. What type of photo equipment do you use? Lets see some more!
This little guy let me get pretty close to get this picture. They DO call the blue on his back 'hair' when they describe this butterfly. Where's Bugguy??!! LOL
Sal, I use a Sony Mavica CD1000 - great for close up/macro work which is what I do most.
He sure is beautiful!!
