I have a pile that I have been throwing material into without any regards to the right ratio. I have only turned it once.
Obviously I'm not a serious composter. Anyway, today I discoverd that it has been invaded by fire ants. Any idea how to get them out of there without killing all the worms?
fire ants in compost
Painted lady--go to www.naturalgardeneraustin.com Then do a search for "beneficial nemetodes" I use it on my yard/garden. It really helps. If you go to buy it make sure it has been kept cold and keep them cold on the way home.
I have read some where that if you have ants in your compost pile the pile is too dry. If this is true I dont know, but when I see ants when I roll my barrel around I add water.
