Another shot. The leaves are still coming out...it's still early spring.

Hczone6, I looked all thru the Acer-Maples, in my AtoZ large reference and couldn't find Threadleaf Maple listed. Is it a Japanese or a different one. I can see the leaves are very lacinated. Looks very pretty, does it change color in the fall. Donna

I absolutely love Japanese Maples! Which variety is it?

The leaves don't change much in the fall. I thought I put an entry in the plantsdatabase today...but I don't see it. If I find the link I'll put it on here. This plant's name is (from the tag when I bought it):

Common name listed on the tag (from Monrovia):
Threadleaf Japanese Maple

Botanical name:
Acer palmatum 'Viride'

I also thought those types of leaves were called Lace Leaf.

Springfield, IL(Zone 6a)

Lace leaf, cutleaf and the proper name dissectum... are all the same .. the cultivar name is wrong it is Viridis a very nice green dissectum ... but then this thread is from 2003 but I don't think allot of the bigger nurseries are much better now ..,. mispellings are common. Davidsan
