SICK BUDDLIA BUSH \ PLEASE HELP

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA(Zone 8b)

I really need some help here. I have searched the internet and cannot find anything. The problem is that I have a Buddlia Bush that I planted last year, along with several others at the same time. All of them are doing fine except for 1 that stays totally wilted. I have watered it extra and I have lookd for bugs or ants around the base and I cannot see a thing. I even dug it up today to check the roots. Nothing. The only thing that is different about it is thatit has some of that bright green sedum planted around the bottom of the buddlia and the sedum is in bloom right now (yellow flowers). Could the sedum be causing the problem??? Anybody got any ideas. Anything is appreciated. LULU

If you water too much that can cause wilting. Are all of the Bfly bushes planted in the same location?

I had a problem with mine last year, then I found out that I was watering him too much.
I just let him thirst for nearly 2 weeks, then up he came, big, strong, and bloomed until November.

Good luck!

During the summer when it gets above 100 my established bushes (planted for 2 years or more) only get watered about once every 3 weeks or more. When they do get watered it's for 5-7 hours with a soaker/drip system. I check the plants with a water meter.

Thanks for the info. I do not think it is a water problem since all of the bushes are planted along a border together and get the same amount of water. I'm thinking some sort of mite or something that I cannot see.
Please reply with any new info. Thanks, Lulu

If you have an organic nursery near you see if they carry beneficial nemetodes. They should be in a refrigerator at the nursery and kept cold on the way back to your house. A couple of sites are www.soilfoodweb.com and www.dirtdoctor.com to check out more info.
If you can't get the BN try dry molasses from a feed store or spray on the liquid it comes in a gallon here. All that stuff keep my soil happy and alot less bugs and bad microbes. If its a fungus I think corn meal may help.

When I have a problem like that it's usually a mole that has tunneled too much around that particular plant.

Lulu, do you think it's possible that you might have a bit of construction trash in that spot? If not, have ya tried the old epsom salt trick?

Wow, desert_rose, when's the pool party?

Lady, how do you fight your moles?

What is the old epsom salt trick? I have three Buddelia planted along a fence and the middle one is doing it. Black knight. the pink and the blue one are fine.

It might be something in the soil in that particular spot. Maybe if you dug it up again and removed and replaced the soil in that immediate area? Or, it might just be one of those plants that doesn't do well for reasons of it's own and it's doing all it can to die, we all have those. I can't think of anything else if you've checked for bugs and it isn't sitting in a puddle.
