The blackthorn is in full flower here - a magnificent sight
This hedge is on one of our busier lanes, so i'll go elsewhere for my sloes, but these plants face south and put on a wonderful show every year

Wow, what a fantastic sight, oh how envious I am. Most of the hedgerows here in Northumblerland get the chop so no flowers. I have planted some of my own which are not in leaf yet and I'll only have to wait for ? years for the fruits. Do you know how far and wide I serched for the sloes? This year I will not put in so much sugar to make a drier Sloe Gin.....Thanks for the photo GREAT SITE/SIGHT.

Yes I put in too much sugar too. I still have a fair amount maturing :)
We're very lucky here, though a lot of our hedges too are given the short back and sides treatment
