I see people talking about planting certain things in the bog areas of their ponds, but I would like to know how that translates for those of use who have pre-formed ponds with ledges. If a plant can be planted in a boggy area with its feet wet, does that mean I can pot the plant up in a container and sit in on the ledge of my pond? I have some plants like this (ribbon grass, iris and arrow plant)because I was told they were water plants...But I'm curious about others!
Clarification on "Bog Area"
Kimberly, it depends on the plants. Plants referred to as "marginals" can sit on a ledge and be constantly wet, just not totally submerged. Other plants like to be moist, but will rot if they're left sitting in water. So if you know what plants you'd like to experiment, throw the list out here, and you'll probably get some good information from folks who have tried them in a variety of situations. Or you can experiment with them, and share your results with us!
