I Hate It.

Birmingham, United Kingdom

I am clearing up leaves, debris etc. I haven't a large garden, but many trees shed their leaves on mine. I have spent many hours clearing up this week and have filled 35 black bags so far.... and let me tell you my back is killing me.....this is the job I hate most, this clearing up lark....what I love though is seeing the new growth, the plants coming back and wondering what things are and not remembering until it's grown a bit more.

PS Does anyone know a supplier of double primroses?

Have you tried:

Barnhaven

Arcadia Nurseries

Oakleigh Nurseries

Must admit that we leave the leaves where they fall, with the exception of those that fall on the lawn. Far too lazy to clean them up, we also use those that have fallen in the borders to cover the overwintering plants that are just a little tender.

Ah, you beat me to those nursery links Baa :)
Yes, I leave the leaves as well - only clear them off lawn and paths. In fact the ones that fall on my bark path get left too. The ones I clear go straight on the compost heap. I mix them in with everything else and end up with great mulch. That's the next job - weed and mulch. Wonder if the season will beat me again this year....I always intend to weed and mulch all the beds, but rarely gety round them all before the dry weather sets in and it's too late :(

I was really surprised at Oakleighs prices so I just had to find where they were. Hah idiot Baa, they are just 15 miles from my house and I didn't even know they were there!

LOLOL ;)

Have just been looking at the Oakleigh catalogue - might be tempted by the pensetemons - will have to be via mail order - have you had plants from them Philomel and were they happy and healthy specimens ?

Just to let you know, Oakleigh no longer sell double primroses.

Ah, thanks marigold
And no I didn't know Oakleigh gt, just the first two - it didn't seem worth saying that before LOL

Thanks Philomel - may give them a go anyway - will report back if I do.

Arcadia Nursery is only a few miles from me. Started by a local keen amateur, he knows his stuff. We've bought a lot of plants from there. A really good nursery, I can heartily recommend it!

That's interesting info - thanks Northerner

I have bought plants from Arcadia, and both service and plants were excellent... so I recommend them.
