I NEED A FAST GROWING HEDGE FOR SHADY AREA

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA(Zone 8b)

Does anyone know of a good fast growing evergreen shrub that will make a good hedge for a shady area (dappled shade)? Any info appreciated

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Lulu, I planted a hedge last summer using escallonia, it is evergreen, small leafed but not as small as boxwood. It grows much quicker. The best part is it starts so easily from cuttings. It has a small pink blossom too. From one plant I took hardwood cuttings and gosh, I think everything rooted. I had bottom heat but softwood cuttings would do just as well and as easily.
