I was told that a tree that we had was a Chamesypharis. It died and was replaced. I tried to look up the tree name to find out more about it but cannot find the name listed anyhere. I don't know if this is the genus, species or variety. Anyone know what it might be? It was an evergreen, that much I could tell, possibly a Cedar.
What is a Chamesypharis?
Padre,
The correct spelling is Chamaecyparis. There are quite a few Chamaecyparis species, with C. lawsoniana, C. obtusa and C. pisifera being the most common.
Go to www.google.com and search Chamaecyparis. You should find all sorts of information.
Good luck,
Mike
Thanks Treelover. I just had an old invoice from the files to work from. I will research it further now that I can spell it correctly.
Chamaecyparis often die from a fungi in the root, and if it is replaced with same or similar species it will surely die also, the spores last decades I have been told.
I hope they swiched genera! Good luck, they are beautiful and fast growing trees.
