Ewe crutching day

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Here is a series of pictures I took today showing the process of shearing off the ewes belly wool, the wool around her udder and tail areas so that she is cleaner for lambing, we can see what is happening when she starts to deliver her lambs, and the lambs can find the udder easier. We worked 7 hours today doing the whole flock. The shearer spends about 1 minute per ewe doing the shearing part. One person is kept busy keeping the chutes full, and another person, me, gave shots, kept moving the wool to the end of the trailer, helped get the sheep up the last chute to the side exit gate area, and occasionally wrestled a wayward ewe. So, here, hopefully in some sort of orderly fashion, is the process.
