Today I finished planting my snowdrop beds.
Each snowdrop was re-labelled using a black label which was then pushed underground. White labels look like gravestones. A list was made of all snowdrops which were listed in alphabetical order by species and cultivar. I then gave each snowdrop a reference number which was marked on to an 8 inch black label using a silver paint marker.
All that needs done now is to get my you know what into gear and work out how much gravel I need to cover the garden, get it delivered and spread and get my water feature done in time for open day. It may be 5 weeks away but I'm away 2 of them.
The fence looks rubbish because there has been a Leylandii hedge there for 20 years. Maybe there will be a new one by open day.
Here are beds 2, 2A and 3. bed 1 is behind me. Beds 1, 2 and 2A are mixed species and cultivars, Bed 3 is for species and cultivar doubles only.
Snowdrop beds finished - at last!
You're way too early *G*
Nice looking beds.
Evert I was thinking today that you should come over here sometime to see spring bulbs at their best in my friends gardens. You would leave with lots of goodies.
Wish I could... :)
You should come here in the Summer to enjoy the warm days and light nights (or in Winter to see some snow ;))
What a joy to see the snowdrops flowering, I split loads up last year and I have forgotten where I planted them so it's hunt the sonwdrop around the garden.
Southmede do you know there is a wood in Northumberland that is protected because of it's yellow snowdrops?
Yes I think that I knew that and is the location a secret?
you have beautifull corner there! in summer it must be awesome!
nice form too......what will grow around that trellis?
Mitjo, this is the Mark who had lots of Hellebores ;)
I only have well had one. All the shots were taken in some friends gardens.
The wood is kept secret and is 'guarded' during snowdrop time.
Great job on the raised beds.
