Nero Burning program

For quite a long time I have been downloading files to CD-RWs using the InCD portion of the Nero Burning program. Now that I have heard they eventually go bad I am trying to download files onto CD-Rs from "My Documents". Just can't seem to make it work, have tried all afternoon with no luck. Slightly frustrated! :( If anyone uses this program would like to get step by step instructions to download onto the CD-R. I will bow down at their feet if I get them.
