My last year in college, there was no money to buy my husband any gifts for Christmas. With 2 children, me going to college full time and he was a Sargent in the MC, money was VERY Short. So I wrote him this poem. It has won awards in national contest and has been published 3 times. Hope you enjoy, :-) Please feel free to use it if you like.

The Gift

This year let's give each other nothing.
I'll give you my strongest smile,
In return, you hand in mine;
These are gift quite enough
For two who love each other.
