I took this photo this summer. I was suprised that the faceted eyes showed up so well. The Zebra was the last butterfly to hang in there. It came back after two frosts. Since the third frost happend I haven't seen any more butterflies. I'm so bored! I guess now is the time to plan what to grow next season.

I think they all came to florida. We still have so many flying around! They are so beautiful!
Great picture! We still have alot of them. They were nesting in the lot behind us til last week. They started clearing that lot and I think the butterflies have moved into one of my oaks.
You folks are lucky to have these around, they are wonderful. I once saw one on a trip to southeastern Arizona. Evidently it had strayed in from Mexico, since they are not known to be residents there. The only other place I have seen them is in Costa Rica, where they are abundant amongst all of their Heliconius butterfly relatives.
