This is on our asters--I check all of my books and aome sites. I have no idea what this is---Does anybody know?

Tough one. Face reminds me a little of a monarch or black swallowtail caterpillar. The closest thing I found was the Grapevine Epimenis: http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/2000/cateast/psycepim.htm

...but he feeds on grapes, not asters.
