Got seeds or seedlings?

Morris, IL(Zone 5b)

I am looking for seeds or seedlings of japanese maples, witch hazel, contorted trees or weeping pussy willow. Anybody out there have any? Has to be hardy to zone 5. Thanks!

I have a corkscrew willow I could try a cutting from?

Minneapolis, MN(Zone 5a)

Contorted trees and shrubs need to be propagated by cuttings or grafting - seeds will produce "normal" looking plants.

In most cases these plants are difficult to propagate and that is the reason they are so expensive in the garden centers.

You might want to check out www.forestfarm.com and www.heronswood.com. Both of these nurseries have contorted plants listed in their online catalogs. The plants you receive are usually a little bit smaller than what you will find in your local garden center, but they are far less expensive, also.

Good luck,
Mike

Rootdoctor, a cutting would be great! But should we wait til spring to do one? I'm not hip to starting cuttings. Let me know.

Corkscrew willow will root in water, I've done it many times, I'm really bad at cuttings and this is about the only I can do.

Thanks for the info! Guess I'll try it.
